HEEEYYYYYOOOOOO!!! Happy Monday and welcome back to Furn Talk, a place to get away from the awful stresses of the world and talk Yankees and Baseball! Gonna be a juicy one this week so many things to cover including the trade deadline. SOOOOO let's jump right in.

Trade Deadline:
Well this was a hard part of the week to swallow. After having a Starting Pitcher ERA of over 11. It seemed like a pretty apparent sign for Brian Cashman to get a solid Starting Pitcher at the deadline. But the asking price was too high for the Yankees. While it seemed to be looking alright, since the Dodgers, Astros, and Red Sox didn't make any moves, the Astros acquire Zack Greinke at the Deadline making easily the best Starting Rotation in the American League. The Astros now have Verlander, Greinke, Cole, and newly acquired Aaron Sanchez of the Blue Jays. 3 of those Names will finish Top-10 in AL Cy Young Voting. Great news if you are a Houston Fan, awful news if you are literally any other team. Definitely a gut punch for Bronx Bombers.

Weekly Games:

Amidst all the hate at the deadline, BOY, did the Bronx Bombers respond emphatically. They go 5-1 this week and Sweep those Red Sox like it was nobody's business. Chris Sale looked like he deserved a Demotion to Triple A and the Yankees Bats shined in a must win series (please reference earlier blogs for a complete list of all important series). We ultimately set Boston back so far in the Playoff Picture, which is a win in my book.

Got to see the game on Saturday, which was excellent. Although Edwin Encarnacion (The Parrot Man) broke his wrist and will be out for a few weeks, which hurts our offensive fire power. Nonetheless, this is why we have great depth for our lineup as we seem to have waves of injuries that lurk over us. With a weaker lineup, we should be able to trudge forwards in our pursuit of having the best record in Baseball despite having a long Injured List.

Weekly Outlook:

We have a pretty light road trip coming up. We are playing the O's at Camden Yards in a 3-game set that starts tonight, and then we go North of the Border to face the Blue Jays at the Rogers Center for a 4-game set. While these series are not as important as the LA Dodgers series or A's series coming up, it will be important this week for some of the regulars to get some rest, and let the subs shine. As the subs are more talented than most teams' starters, we should be able to get some solid wins this week.

Tune in Next Monday for another breakdown of the week and outlook for some very important series coming up.

Enjoy the rest of your day and Go YANKEES!!!

2021 Yankees Pitching Preview

HEYYYYOOOOOOOO!!! Welcome back to Furn Talk. We are back for 2021 providing my hot takes for MLB and for our beloved New York Yankees. There is so much to talk about with Opening Day only 1 week away! So exciting. The Offseason: This offseason the Yankees Re-Signed DJ LeMahieu (6 yrs. $90M, we will talk about him in the next article), Signed Corey Kluber (1yr. $11M), and traded for Jameson Taillon, and signed Justin Wilson and Darren O’Day. Clearly Brian Cashman and the rest of the Yankees front office wanted to upgrade the rotation and did just that. Unfortunately, we lost Masahiro Tanaka this offseason, as he goes back to Japan. He was a favorite amongst Yankee Fans and will be dearly missed. A great Postseason pitcher and a great clubhouse presence, Tanaka’s contributions to the Yankees will not be forgotten. The Rotation: Keeping on the Pitching Staff, the Yankees are entering their last week of Spring Training. Here is a potential Opening Day Rotation for the Yankees: Starti...

Back to the Drawing Board.... Again.....

HEYYYYOOOOOOOO!!! Sorry for the abnormally long break, but welcome back to Furn Talk Volume 7. This is going to be my analysis on the postseason and potential moves during the offseason for both the Yankees and other MLB teams. So, unless you live under a rock, you know that the Yankees once again did not make it to the world series. If I am being honest, we did not deserve it. To the Yankees credit we steamrolled the Minnesota Twins in an ALDS series that looked like we were playing a minor league team. Houston moves on as everyone expects. On the National League Side the Dodgers are out again on a hot Washington Nationals team, and the Braves won against the Cardinals in 5 games. Then the CS comes about. The Red- Hot Nations and their stellar Starting Pitching Rotation, which we will get into later, got through the lackluster Cardinals. But on to the more important series. The Yankees were not the team of the Regular Season. They were stranding runners, striking out in big situ...

Furn Talk Vol. 6  12up image @lfurns11 Twitter @lfurneri11 instagram HEEEYYYYYOOOOOO!!!!! It is Volume 6 of Furn Talk. Was on vacation last week so I couldn’t get around to it. But this week we are back with some awesome MLB talk! So let’s jump right in!! In other MLB news the Cubbies outlasted the Buccos in the Little League Classic Sunday Night which was cool to see. Love to have in the interaction with MLB players and the youth. It’s great for the game. The NL East Divisional Race is heating up and it should be awesome to see how it plays out. The Indians are back climbing the leaderboards as they have made quite a comeback led by Fransisco Lindor and Some awesome Starting Pitching. But the Twins will still remain on top.  Chicago Tribune Image Amidst the high quality talent in the AL East, the Yankees are still the best Team in baseball. Talent and Power up and down the lineup. Now let’s dive into it. The Yankees in 2 weeks swept the O’s twice and split ag...
